Mercy

Oh, ee, ah, ahem. Noticed Mercy's old friend and top-drawer poet and songstress Salena Godden is starting a new night in London, the Book Club Boutique, tonight! We've performed with Salena all over the UK be it Latitude Festival, in Liverpool at the Bluecoat supporting Lemn Sissay or with her as the headline star of our own nights. She's a very funny, very sassy lady, so Book Club Boutique should be a good un.

On the bill this evening: Aoife Mannix, Paula Varjack, and poet and rapper David J, a video of whom I have to post to show you what an amazing performer he is.



David blew everyone away when he performed at our Fiction event in Liverpool a few years ago dressed like Tony Montana from Scarface. His vocal control and mike technique is amazing, changing the tone of his voice to throw in paranoid whispers and asides or spinning back the story like a DJ would a record. In short, if you're lucky enough to be in London at the same time as this guy, you have to see him. The gig starts at 7pm at Dick's Bar, 23 Romilly Street, Soho, entry is free!
