23/08/10 Live
by Nathan Jones

Well you go out in the evenin', see the same owd thing

People playin guitar, starin at their drinks...

Well fear not! Let the Midnight Special shine a light on you. Mercy's new performance programme, supported by Diesel - including a series of events either starting or finishing at the witching hour, every Saturday from 17th September - 27th November at The Cooperative - will have you stepping foot to foot going hamena-hamena-hamena-hamena. For us, poets and wordsmiths are at the centre of a very exciting cultural landscape at the moment, and we'll be presenting a host of acts and new collaborative performances, with a view to exploring and excavating the deep potential of shouting at a room full of strangers.

We're just putting the finishing touches to the series now, but key performances will include a show-stopping openner from live art legend Michael Mayhew (17 Sept 7.30-00.00), new music from Apatt (9th Sept), Ezra Bang and Hot Machine (30th Oct) and Hot Club de Paris (27th Nov), a literary boozey-do with Stop Sharpening Your Knives editors, poetry from Mercy faves Homework and Penned in the Margins, and a host of other exciting live work in partnership with top agencies Shunt (London), Hive, and Samizdat - all kindly sponsored by the lush people at Diesel.

We're also hosting Revolutions in Form #3 at the Bluecoat's Chapter and Verse festival on 17th October, featuring a special performance from Laura Dockril's Word Orchesra, and holding back news on a real exciting audio project for the public sphere, launching in September.

Yeeeeee.
